Under the RTE Act of 2009, 25 percent of seats in eligible private schools are reserved for the children who belong to EWS and disadvantaged groups such as SC, ST, OBC-NCL, orphans, disabled, and others.

Important Dates
The Basic Education Department will disclose the important dates for the admission under the RTE Act for academic year 2026-27 with the release of notification. The table below carries the expected timeline.

Registration
The registration for the UP RTE 2026-27 admission will begin soon for the first round. Note that for each round parents will have a time of around two to three weeks to apply for the same.
Age Limit
The age limits of children for admission under the RTE Act for the academic year 2026-27 for the nursery, LKG, UKG, and Class 1 are as follows.
- Nursery: Above 3 years and below 4 years.
- LKG: Above 4 years and below 5 years.
- UKG: Above 5 years and below 6 years.
- Class 1: Above 6 years and below 7 years.
The cut-off date to calculate the age is April 1, 2026.

Admission Process
Under the Right to Education Act of 2009, the admission to eligible private schools for 25 percent of seats takes place on a computerized lottery basis.
For the academic year 2026-27, the result of the computerized lottery will be made public separately for each round. Names of students are randomly selected for the admission; there is no specific procedure for it.
To complete the admission process of a child, after the lottery result, the parents have to download the allotment letter—if selected—and visit the school with all the required documents.
Lottery Result
The result for the computerized lottery is made public on the official website of the UP RTE Admission. The Basic Education Department, Uttar Pradesh, releases it within a few days after the application submission due date.
School Allotment List
The school allotment list will be made public within a week after the lottery result; note that it will show the details of the school allotted to students for admission. Parents will be able to download it by logging into the web portal.
How to Apply?
In order to apply for the UP RTE 2026-27 admission, go through the step-by-step instructions available below.
- Go to the official website of UP RTE Admission, http://rte25.upsdc.gov.in/.
- Find and click on the option that reads ‘Online Application / Student Login.’
- Tap on the ‘New Student Registration’ tab to access the registration page.
- Provide all the details and upload the documents, solve the CAPTCHA, and click the Register button.
- After the successful registration, log in with your user ID and password.
- Fill in the other asked details correctly, and then upload the additional required documents.
- Review your application form and click the Submit button to apply.
